1. Incorrect placement of the joint of floor coverings between different rooms
The joint between the rooms should be located directly under the door leaf. This is necessary so that none of the rooms will have an untidy sliding floor covering. To calculate the joint location, determine the following points in advance:
Which way will the door open? This will help determine from which wall we should calculate the distance. After all, the door is installed along the plane of the wall on the opening side;
Find out the thickness of the door leaf from the manufacturer. The joint will be located exactly in the middle and the door will cover it.
2. Mistakes in combining white shades
For example, white appliances and a white kitchen may not match at all. This is because white in different objects and materials can have different shades: cold or warm. Therefore, it is better to compare in person to avoid mistakes.
3. Not thinking about how large-format materials and furniture will get into the apartment
The size may be larger than your elevator. Or it may turn out that the elevator is not working, and you live on the 20th floor. It is rather difficult to carry a whole slab of natural stone on foot.
Therefore, it is worth thinking about this issue before purchasing materials. Find out the dimensions of the elevator in your building. It is worth considering that in new buildings they are often covered with plywood and other protective materials. Accordingly, this reduces its size and your chances of carrying too large materials on it.
4. Not thinking through the process of opening the cabinet doors
For example, install overhead lights next to the cabinet doors. Illuminating this area is not a bad solution in itself. But you need to consider that the cabinet doors can catch the lights when opening. You can solve this problem by choosing a sliding wardrobe or built-in lights.
5. Not matching the dimensions of the washing machine and the width of the doorway in the bathroom
The opening size should be at least 10 cm larger than the width of the machine. Otherwise, after installing the doors, you will not be able to bring the machine in.
There are two options:
- 1) Bring the machine in before installing the doors (but remember that you will not be able to take it out without losses either);
- 2) Choose a washing machine before starting the renovation. To know its exact dimensions and plan to expand the doorway, if necessary.
